What are DDA compliant door widths?
To ensure you comply with DDA regulations for minimum effective clearance widths according to Approved Document M - Volume 2 you need to meet the following requirements
Direction and width of Approach
- Straight-on - ie. without a turn or oblique approach
- 800mm for New Buildings or 750mm for existing buildings
- At right angles to an access route at least 1500mm wide
- 800mm for New Buildings or 750mm for existing buildings
- At right angles to an access route at least 1200mm wide
- 825mm for New Buildings or 775mm for existing buildings
- At External Doors to buildings used by the general public
- 1000mm for New Buildings or 775mm for existing buildings

This project was particularly important win for Heronhurst as the well respected college in their local go-to further educations establishment
Warwick University Arden House Complex

Warwick University have chosen HERONHURST to design and install a bespoke Conservatory Recreation Room for their prestigious Arden House complex
This is the first University project of its kind for HERONHURST, a 30 year old Conservatory and Window Systems company from Abergavenny
Though competition for the project was tough, competitive pricing, unique concept and design, product specification and award winning service led Warwick University to HERONHURST as their first choice
We have a new website for the trade
Even though we have supplied to the public and trade since 1982, this is the first time we have launched a dedicated website to support our Professional customers - Architecture Professionals, Commercial and New Build
We are working to fill the site with informative downloads and relevant galleries, without the usual fluff associated with windows and doors - so you get the information you need, without the hassle

HERONHURST were trusted for the reliability and security of their windows and doors at the historic Maindy Barracks in Cathays, Cardiff as part of a major refurbishment project which included a considerable number of PVCu Sliding Sash, Aluminium Windows and Commercial Shopfront Aluminium Doors

Sedgemoor Housing Association has specified PVC-U doors and windows from the Duraflex Diamond Suite for the refurbishment of 16 properties in Woolavington, Somerset. Approved local authority installer, Heronhurst Ltd, won the contract with its combination of top quality products and service plus the ability to work to a tight schedule. Speedy completion on site was a specific requirement as it was necessary for the houses to remain occupied throughout the renovation. Over 100 windows and 40 Duraflex doors were installed by Heronhurst in just over a month
